Let it RAIN!

As of...RIGHT NOW....Rain and the 3rd compatibility pack are in the X-Box Live marketplace. The third compatibility pack comes with retro MK2 outfits for both Kitana and Jade.

Both items will be available for the PS3 later today.

Rains combo system is very unique and extremely fun to play with. Sorry Scorpion, I may have a new fave ninja..for a while!

If you have the season pass, you can retrieve Rain through the DLC menu that pops up at the Start Menu of Mortal Kombat. Getting it from the Xbox game market will cost you extra. The compatibility pack is totally free. With the release of Rain, that makes 3 out of the 4 DLC characters that are available along with Blind Kenshi and Skarlet.

While I have your attention, MK will be at the San-Diego Comic Con this Thursday (7/21/11). It is there that they will show the final episode of "Mortal Kombat: Legacy", which deals with Cyrax and Sektor. They will also reveal the final mysterious DLC character and make him/her available for all to play. So for you die hard MK fans, this is a pretty big week!

But, be sure you go get Rain!

Happy Super Kicking

Sonic Generations Demo Review

About 20 days ago, Sega released a timed demo of their new creation: Sonic Generations. Teaser clips had been swirling through the web weeks prior to the demo showcasing game play between the classic 1990's 2D Sonic, and the next generation 3D Sonic. Apparently, something has opened time warps pushing Sonic back in time. Both the old and new Sonic must come together to defeat this evil force!

The demo was timed to expire after 20 days. The number 20 chosen probably due to it also being Sonic's 20th anniversary. The demo allowed for you to play as Classic Sonic through one stage of the iconic Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1.

If you haven't played Sonic 4 yet, this game will give your brain that good ole' nostalgia feeling of a simpler time not too long ago...20 years to be exact! A very noticeable difference compared to the previously released Sonic 4 is that the speed of the game is much quicker. If you recall Sonic 4, the movements are slightly delayed and the speed isn't well..speedy. This was a major complaint of gamers that Sega seemingly took to heart and aimed to fix. The graphics and color display of the level is magnificent. The game play and controls aren't difficult at all, despite the rapid speed of Sonic.

Classic Sonic stays true to its roots as far as his lack of certain moves such as the homing dash or the double jump quick shield. The spin dash is included and supercharged for high speeds. And for you Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Silver and Shadow fans, sorry, Sonic goes solo in this one. (Since, he's the only one that's really changed in appearance in the last 20 years).

I think that this game will do what Sonic 4 couldn't do, which is give Sonic fans and gamers that old school 2D thrill with some new school 3D attitude. They want speed, they will be in for a treat! Just wait until they play modern Sonic's quest!

Sonic Generations is scheduled to release November 1st, 2011 for the X-Box 360 and the Playstation 3. Pre-sales for the game can be found at Gamestop's website.

Happy Speeding

Purple Rain, Purple Rain

When Prince first sung his iconic "Purple Rain" in 1984, I don't think it would have inspired an elemental ninja that can throw lightning and sever heads with water. But, that's just what happened!

Making his first appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Rain was a true delight to play as. From his control orb to his roundhouse kick that can fling the opponent from one side of the screen to the other, Rain proved to be a unique power house. And now, the purple clad ninja has come back home in MK9.

This morning, Rain's premiere trailer hit the web, you can watch it right here.

They upgraded all of Rain's old moves to make them look pretty cool, as well as some new moves to boot. Rain is the third out of 4 DLC characters previously announced. The first two were Skarlet and Warrior Kenshi. The fourth character is still a mystery, and word is that this new character won't have anything to do with the MK universe, so expect to see a game character from a different franchise (im rooting for Ryu Hyabusa, Dante from "Dante's Inferno" or Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed II/Brotherhood).

Rain is scheduled to be released July 19th. Expect him to be in your respective game markets between early morning and early evening. Also, there will be a third compatibility pack free of charge to make Rain compatible with online multiplaying. The first compatibility pack came with MK3 outfits for Cyrax and Sektor, while the second pack came with MK2 outfits for Noob and Smoke. Word over Twitter and Facebook says that the third pack's costumes has something to do with "Blueberry Lime"....Some say its retro suits for Jax and Sonya, Some say Sonya and Kano. I guess we will all find out in a few days.

"UPDATE: Blueberry and Lime are Kitana and Jade. Their new costumes will be shown off in a trailer video tomorrow 7/16/11"

If you haven't gotten the season pass, be sure you pick it up (4 characters for the price of 3). If you have or did, Rain and the other characters will be available in MK's DLC menu that pops up after you are prompted to press start. DO NOT buy it from the xbox game marketplace if you have the season pass, you will be charged extra!

Happy Gaming
